Hannah Bates is an artist based in Cleveland, OH. Her work in glass, wood, and metal explores the fluid boundaries between the body, raw materials, and the natural world. She received an MFA in the Craft/Material Studies department at Virginia Commonwealth University and a BFA in Fine Arts at Columbus College of Art and Design. Hannah has taught within glass programs at VCU and Kent State University. She was an artist in residence at ACRE residency, chaNorth, and Sculpture Space. Hannah has exhibited at RoyGBiv in Columbus, OH and Heaven Gallery in Chicago. She received the Satellite Fund administered by SPACES to complete a solo exhibition at Waterloo Arts Gallery. She is the founder and studio manager of Vessel City, an artist-run studio and gallery space in Cleveland, OH.
